The UFC is returning to European soil on July 22.

The octagon will land in Hamburg, Germany, where the city’s Barclaycard Arena will play host to its second UFC Fight Night event in three years.

The event was first officially reported by German outlet Ransport, who exclusively confirmed the UFC’s return to the sports-mad city.

And the @UFCEurope Twitter account swiftly followed, confirming the event to its English-speaking fans just a few minutes later.

The last time the UFC was in Hamburg was back in September 2016. Two former UFC heavyweight champions topped the bill, as Josh Barnett defeated Andrei Arlovski via third-round rear-naked choke.

The event also saw Swedish light-heavyweight star Alexander Gustafsson outpoint Polish powerhouse Jan Blachowicz.

And the knockout of the night was scored by another light-heavyweight, as Ryan Bader starched Ilir Latifi with a huge knee.

The event also featured notable wins for German fighters Nick Hein, Jessin Ayari and Polish-German Peter Sobotta, who surprised us during fight week when he told us he’d be flying the flag of Jamaica from that point on.

No bouts are currently confirmed for the July 22 event, but announcements of the main event and additional featured matchups will be released in the coming days and weeks.
