UFC Calgary: Completed, with Danny Austin
I chatted with my Canadian colleague Danny Austin as we recapped the action from UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary
I grabbed a word with my good friend and press row colleague from Canada, Danny Austin, as we took a look back at the events of UFC on FOX in Danny’s home city of Calgary.
The show was headlined by a battle of lightweight contenders as rising contender Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier claimed a career-best win by stopping former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
Former UFC featherweight world champion Jose Aldo produced a brilliant display to come back from a tough start to stop hard-hitting Jeremy Stephens with a crushing body shot.
And another former world champion – ex-strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk – showed that she’s still better than almost everyone else in the division with a landslide decision victory over fellow contender Tecia Torres.
Danny and I pick over the big talking points from the night’s big fights, Danny chats about his other sporting beat covering the CFL, and we looked ahead to the big fights at the top of the upcoming UFC 227 card in Los Angeles.
