UFC 211: Fists will fly as Miocic and dos Santos run it back in Dallas

One of the best heavyweight scraps of recent years will get a second chapter this weekend when UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic puts his title on the line against old adversary Junior dos Santos in Dallas.

The main event of UFC 211 will pit the two heavyweight stars head to head for a second time, with defending champ Miocic desperate to retain his belt and in the process avenge his decision loss to the Brazilian in Phoenix back in 2014.

Back then the due traded leader for five full rounds as the bout went all the way to the scorecards, but with Miocic in the best form of his career and dos Santos looking back to his prime, the smart money may be on this one finishing before the final klaxon this time around.

The co-main event sees the most dominant female athlete in the UFC today, Poland’s Joanna Jedrzejczyk, put her undisputed strawweight title on the line when she takes on heavy-handed Brazilian Jessica Andrade.

Jedrzejczyk has looked as dominant a champion as you’ll find under the UFC banner so far, turning back the challenges of Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz since her destruction of former champion Carla Esparza back in March 2015.

But she’ll need to be wary – particularly early on – against the strong, powerful Andrade, who has hit the best form of her career since dropping down from 135 to 115lbs.

Andrade stopped Penne a round quicker than Jedrzejczyk managed, then subbed Scotland’s Joanne Calderwood inside a round before outpointing former Invicta champion Angela Hill in an exciting back-and-forth contest.

Expect another toe-to-toe war when she meets the champion in the middle of the cage on Saturday night.

UFC 211: Main Card

Stipe Miocic v Junior dos Santos (UFC heavyweight title)
Joanna Jedrzejczyk v Jessica Andrade (UFC strawweight title)

Frankie Edgar v Jair Rodriguez (featherweight)
