The search is on for ONE Championship’s next wave of superstars

ONE Championship Vice President embarks on his search for the next generation of Asian martial arts stars

ONE Championship’s new documentary programme, “Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series” is all set to hit our screens, laptops and smartphones.

The show, which follows Franklin on his continent-wide search for Asia’s next martial arts superstars, will premiere on the official ONE Championship YouTube channel at 4pm Singapore time (8am UK time) on Monday, 22 January, with a new episode added every Monday.

The series accompanies ONE Championship Vice President Franklin as he travels across Asia experiencing Asian culture as he looks to scout some of the best up-and-coming martial artists in each location.

On his travels, Franklin visits some of Asia’s top gyms in Bangkok, Thailand; Manila, Philippines; Seoul, South Korea; Tokyo, Japan; and Beijing, China.

And fans will follow Franklin into those gyms as he chats with coaches then watches the athletes as they’re put through their paces for the former Middleweight World Champion. Franklin also takes in plenty of live action, watching the region’s top prospects in action in live competition.

The best prospects will be rewarded with six-figure contracts and the chance to compete in front of a huge global audience inside the ONE Championship cage.

“Asia is the hotbed of the industry’s top martial arts prospects. It comes as no surprise, since martial arts has been home to the region for the past 5000 years,” said Franklin.

“Throughout my time in ONE Championship I have been witness to some of the best martial arts talent I have ever seen. Stars today such as Angela Lee and Eduard Folayang came from the grassroots level of talent in Asia and the next martial arts superstar is just waiting to be discovered.”

ONE Championship has unearthed a remarkable crop of global superstars over the years, with the likes of Myanmar’s Aung La N Sang, Indonesia’s Stefer Rahardian, China’s Ma Hao Bin, Thailand’s Shannon Wiratchai, Singapore’s Amir Khan and Malaysia’s Agilan Thani all ascending to stardom through their performances inside the ONE Championship cage.

And with over 4.4 billion people living in Asia, there is a huge untapped resource of martial arts talent, right in the heart of martial arts’ spiritual home. Franklin is taking up the challenge of finding that talent, then giving them the biggest possible stage to showcase their skills to the world.

And he’s inviting the world’s martial arts fans to join him on his journey.

“Follow me on this journey to showcase Asia’s greatest cultural treasure, and join me on the hunt to find ONE Championship’s new wave of superstars.”
