ONE Championship has announced the inception of the ONE Super Series, a brand new global league specifically for the planet’s elite strikers.

The exciting new development was announced on Monday 12 February by Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship Chatri Sityodtong, who confirmed the first event featuring the new competition will take place this April in Manila.

“I am thrilled to announce the addition of ONE Super Series, a global super league that will feature the world’s greatest strikers from Muay Thai, kickboxing, taekwondo, karate, kung fu, sanda, lethwei, silat, and more,” said Sityodtong in a Facebook post.

ONE: HEROES OF HONOR in Manila on April 20 will be our first hybrid show in a ring with bouts from various styles of martial arts. Legendary multiple-time world champion Giorgio Petrosyan (85-2-2, 2 NC) will face Lion Fight world champion Jo Nattawut (60-11-2) under international kickboxing rules.

“Also on the card, multiple-time Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao (255-54-1) will compete against multiple-time Muay Thai world champion Fabio Pinca (99-23-4) under Muay Thai rules with ONE gloves.”

ONE Championship has already confirmed a host of elite-level strikers have signed to compete in future ONE Super Series events, including Muay Thai world champions Petchboonchu FA Group, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, Yodsaenklai Fairtex, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Singtongnoi Por Telakun, Kwankhao Mor. Rattanabandit, and Yodcherry Sityodtong.

In addition, existing ONE Championship stars and Muay Thai world champions Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, Sagetdao “Deadly Star” Petpayathai (pictured) and Alain “The Panther” Ngalani are also set for action.

“ONE Championship is dedicated to giving fans an authentic martial arts experience. We are proud to announce that the absolute best strikers in the world have chosen to continue their professional careers under the ONE banner,” said Sityodtong.

“Fans will be treated to the most exciting striking matches where the best face the best inside of both our ring and our cage. Some matches will be under standard international kickboxing rules in our ring, and other matches will be under modified hybrid striking rules in our cage. This is a game changer in the world of martial arts, and I am excited to kick things off this April.”

The news follows hot on the heels of ONE Championship’s first-ever Muay Thai bout at ONE: GLOBAL SUPERHEROES in January, where three-weight Muay Thai world champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao defeated WBC Muay Thai world champion via second-round TKO under Muay Thai rules in the ONE cage, with four-ounce gloves.

That event took place in Manila’s Mall of Asia Arena, and that venue will also play host to the first-ever ONE Super Series bouts, with two big matchups set for the event on 20 April.
