Welshman John Phillips has gone the extra yard to get himself noticed by the UFC’s matchmakers.

Following the arrival of fellow countrymen Brett Johns and Jack Marshman at UFC Belfast earlier this month, the man known as ‘The White Mike Tyson’ has taken to social media to stake his claim for a place on the UFC roster.

Grabbing an old-school telephone, Phillips went out and about, taking pics of himself and his trusty phone as he went about his day while waiting patiently for the UFC to call.

After starting the day in bed, he got showered, went for a haircut, then took a trip down to the coast, where he grabbed an ice cream before spending some time playing in the amusement arcade.

And, as his succession of Twitter posts illustrated, he had his phone with him every step of the way.

With four KO wins in a row and three first-round KOs in each of his last three contests, Phillips is certainly a main in form.

And with the buzz he’s caused on Twitter with his special day out, maybe a UFC call-up won’t be too far away.
