Mike Grundy

Wigan wrestler Grundy has quietly been doing the business on this side of the pond for a good few years now. While not necessarily as well known outside of UK MMA circles as some of the other names on this list, Grundy’s competitive credentials are as legit as they come.

A former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist in freestyle wrestling from the 2014 Games in Glasgow, Grundy has transitioned seamlessly to mixed martial arts, and has compiled an impressive record of 11 wins, 1 loss with most of those bouts taking place for British promotion BAMMA.

However, more recently he has plied his trade with overseas promotions, including a pair victorious promotional debuts for Japanese promotion Shooto and Russian promotion ACB.

Most recently, Grundy travelled down to Brazil and won the vacant Aspera FC featherweight title, defeating former UFC and The Ultimate Fighter Brazil competitor Fernando Bruno.

Training out of Team Kaobon alongside UFC welterweight star Darren Till, Grundy has competed for most of his pro career as a featherweight, but holds a submission victory on his record as a lightweight, and coming in only needing to make 156lbs, there shouldn’t be any major concerns over making weight.
