Champions set to collide in Manila at ONE: LEGENDS OF THE WORLD

Rival world champions Eduard Folayang and Martin Nguyen will face off in a champion-versus-champion superfight in Manila

Friends outside the cage but rivals inside it, ONE Championship stars Eduard Folayang and Martin Nguyen will face off in a battle of world champions at ONE: LEGENDS OF THE WORLD in Manila, Philippines, on Friday.

Filipino star Folayang is one of ONE Championship’s biggest stars, having captured the lightweight world title from Japanese MMA legend Shinya Aoki last November.

And, almost a year to the day after that win, ‘Landslide’ looks to complete his second straight title defence when he takes on ONE Featherweight World Champion Nguyen, who is stepping up a weight class in an attempt to make history by becoming the promotion’s first simultaneous two-weight world champ.

Vietnamese-Australian Nguyen, who goes by the nickname ‘The Situ-Asian’, dramatically halted the undefeated run of Russian champion Marat Gafurov, with a huge one-punch KO at ONE: QUEST FOR GREATNESS in August this year, exacting revenge for his lone career defeat at the hands of the former champion two years earlier.

Now he’s looking to add a second belt to his collection by dethroning Folayang to become a two-weight world champion.

The fight card in Manila also features a second world title bout, as Brazilian Adriano Moraes embarks on his second run as ONE Flyweight World Champion when he takes on Filipino wushu star Danny ‘The King’ Kingad in the night’s co-main event.

And the likely next challenger for Bibiano Fernandes’ ONE Bantamweight World Championship could be decided, as Filipino former title challenger Kevin ‘The Silencer’ Belingon takes on South Korea’s Kevin ‘Oldboy’ Chung’.
